On Friday, Feb 20th at the boys basketball game, Manchester Athletics inducted 5 new members into the Hall of Fame. Manchester Athletics congratulates: Scott Baker Scott is a 2011 graduate of MJHS. He participated for 4 years each in Basketball and Baseball. In ‘11 Scott was prolific on the baseball diamond. He earned All-State honors as well as being selected for the North / South All-Star team. His baseball number has since been retired. Scott went on to play baseball at Ball State University. He garnered several honors while playing for the Cardinals: 3rd team All- American, MAC Pitcher of the Year, Greg Olson Breakout Player of the Year, BSU Male Student Athlete of the Year and Ball State baseball team Captain. Scott lives in Muncie, IN with his family (wife - Claire and 2 kids - Jemma & Hayes), where he is the owner of BCS Construction. Al Bailey - being represented by his wife Teresa Al taught for 29 years at MJSHS. He was a JH Wrestling and Track coach but his main sport was football. Al was the head coach of the Squires for 19 years where he won one conference title and 3 sectional titles. Al finished as the all time school leader in wins with 86. He was chosen in 2000 as a member of the North All-Star team coaching staff. Al, who passed away in 2012, was married to Teresa and had 2 children (Aaron & Heather) along with 7 grandchildren and one great grandchildren. Rae (Bedke) Hillis - accepting on her behalf - her sister, Jessica Sheahan A 2017 graduate, Rae was a multi-sport athlete for the Squires. She participated in Volleyball, Basketball, Track & Field and Cross Country. In High School, she was a 4x IHSAA State Qualifier in Cross Country and Track placing 6th twice in different events. In this time, she also won four TRC championships as an individual and with the team as well as holding several Manchester Track or Cross Country records at one time. After graduation from Manchester, Rae attended Utah State University. While at USU, she participated in 4 years of Cross Country and Track garnering many accolades for the Aggies. She was a 4x Mountain West All-Conference and 4x Mountain West Scholar Athlete. Rae lives in Palmer, Alaska with her husband - Dillan and three kids (Cal, Wayne & Harper) where she is a Mom and Assistant Admin at Republic Services. Drew Walters A 2002 graduate, Drew was a 3 sport athlete for the Squires. He participated in Basketball and Football but Baseball (4 years) was his passion. He was named All-Conference twice. In ‘02, Drew was a part of the State Championship team. In this year, he earned North / South All-Star honors as well as being the Class 2A L.V. Philips Mental Attitude Award recipient. Drew lives in Carmel, Indiana with his wife - Eleanor and 2 children - Daniel and Meredith, where he is the President of JBM Contractors Corporation. Matt White - being represented by his sister - Sara Key Matt was a 1985 graduate of Manchester HS. He was a member of the Track & Field and Cross Country teams for 4 years each as well as Basketball and Swimming for 2 each. In Cross Country, Matt was a part of two teams that were IHSAA State Qualifiers. He was All-Conference twice and All-State once. Participating in Track, he was an IHSAA State Qualifier in 3 separate events (1600 M / 800 M / 1 Mile Relay). For Track and Cross Country, he was an 8x TRC team champion. Matt continued his running career at Butler University participating in both Track and Cross Country (4 years each). Matt left a lasting impression on the Butler campus as he has two locations named after him (Hinkle Fieldhouse practice court and a Delta Tau Delta fraternity house wing). These locations were dedicated for Matt as an inspiration for a life of courage, wisdom and perseverance in his fight against ALS. Before he passed in 2019, Matt was employed in radio sales as a Sales Director with Emmis Broadcasting in Chicago, IL.
