Manchester Shows Fight in Road Contest at New Haven

By Adam West | Mar 24, 2026 10:20 PM

The Lady Squires competed hard Tuesday night, showing resilience, aggressive base running, and strong individual performances throughout the game. West led Manchester at the plate, finishing a perfect 3‑for‑3 on the night. She doubled in the third inning to help even the score early, added another double in the fifth, and tripled in the seventh inning to cap off her performance. Manchester briefly took the lead in the fourth inning when Espeset delivered a timely single to drive in a run. The Squires stayed aggressive on the bases, stealing four bases in four attempts, with Sautter recording two stolen bases. Late in the game, Manchester continued to battle, highlighted by a seventh‑inning triple from Allie Egolf that brought in a run and kept pressure on the New Haven defense. In the circle, Elin Betten worked through six innings and did a nice job keeping the ball on the ground, inducing ground balls on 75 percent of balls put in play. Defensively, the Squires limited extra‑base opportunities by forcing weak contact and staying engaged throughout the game. While runs were difficult to come by, Manchester showed toughness, effort, and growth, continuing to compete pitch‑to‑pitch and inning‑to‑inning. Next up for the Lady Squires is a road game at FW Wayne this Thursday.
