Competitive Game Ends in Walk-Off as Manchester Falls to North Miami

The Manchester Lady Squires dropped a hard-fought, high-scoring battle to North Miami on Wednesday night, falling 17–13 on a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the seventh inning. The game was tied 13 when North Miami delivered the decisive blow, a grand slam to left field that ended a competitive contest. North Miami struck first, scoring three runs in the bottom of the second inning on a single and a double. They added two more runs in the third to build an early 5–0 lead. Manchester answered in a big way in the top of the fifth inning, flipping the momentum with a seven-run rally on four hits to take a 10–6 advantage. Dillon delivered a key double in the inning, scoring two runs, while Renz cleared the bases with a double of her own, driving in three runs. Espeset also came through in a clutch moment, driving in two runners with two outs to keep the inning alive and the pressure on North Miami. Manchester finished the night with 11 hits, consistently putting runners on base. Renz led the offense, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs, while Jarrett, West, and Betten each collected two hits. Egolf reached base in all four plate appearances, recording one hit, one walk, and being hit by a pitch twice. The Lady Squires showed discipline and toughness at the plate, driving in five runs with two outs and seeing at least three pitches after getting to two strikes in five different at-bats. Defensively, Manchester also turned a double play. Despite multiple momentum swings and Manchester’s late offensive surge, North Miami rallied to tie the game before sealing the win in the bottom of the seventh. Manchester Varsity Softball returns home Thursday to host Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger in their next game. Manchester JV Squires Blank North Miami, 5–0 The Manchester Junior Varsity Squires earned a 5–0 victory over North Miami JV, capitalizing on a big first inning and a strong pitching performance to secure the shutout. Manchester jumped out early in the top of the first. Dawson was hit by a pitch to bring in the game’s first run, followed by an RBI walk from Mardy. Heck added an RBI single, and Davila capped the scoring with a two‑run single to give the Squires all the offense they would need. Niccum picked up the win in the circle, allowing just one hit and no runs over two innings of work while striking out one and walking one. At the plate, Davila led the way from the eight spot in the order, driving in two runs and finishing 1‑for‑1. Davila, Mobley, Heck, and Niccum each recorded a hit for Manchester. Defensively, the Squires were sharp all game, committing no errors. Dillon led the team with two defensive chances as Manchester closed out the shutout win.
