Fought to the Final Out The Manchester Varsity Squires opened strong Wednesday night, jumping out front early against state‑ranked No. 10 Rochester. Manchester got on the board in the first inning. Rochester answered with runs in the second and third innings, but Manchester stayed composed and continued to battle throughout the middle of the game. The Squires’ defense and pitching kept the game within reach, setting the stage for a late push. Manchester saved its best for last. Trailing late, the Squires mounted an exciting seventh‑inning rally. Ava Sautter ignited the comeback with a single and later crossed the plate. Hadley West followed with a clutch double, finishing the night 1‑for‑2 with two runs scored. Finley Espeset also contributed offensively, going 1‑for‑3 as part of Manchester’s seven‑hit attack. Though the rally came up just short in a 5–4 final, the Squires showed grit, confidence, and belief from first pitch to last out against one of the top teams in the state.
