​ Jeffery Grant​ Harper Sturtsman Helps Manchester Varsity Squires Slug Their Way To Victory Against Rochester Harper Sturtsman hit two home runs and drove in four as Manchester Varsity Squires defeated Rochester 9-7 on Wednesday. Sturtsman homered in the first and third innings. The game was back-and-forth, but a walk in the fifth inning helped Manchester Varsity Squires take the lead for good. Manchester Varsity Squires were the first to get on the board in the first when Sturtsman homered to center field, scoring two runs. Rochester took the lead, 3-2, in the bottom of the first thanks to singles by Carson Paulik, and Brant Beck. Resto D’Andrea walked, which helped Manchester Varsity Squires tie the game at three in the top of the second. Rochester took the lead in the bottom of the second. Brady Coleman singled, scoring one run, to give Rochester the lead, 4-3. Sturtsman homered to left field, which helped Manchester Varsity Squires tie the game at four in the top of the third. Rochester took the lead in the bottom of the third. Conner Dunfee hit into a double play, but one run scored, to give Rochester the upper hand, 5-4. Manchester Varsity Squires took the lead in the top of the fourth inning after Dallas Martin singled to center field, and Brendyn Mugford doubled to center field, each scoring one run. Manchester Varsity Squires committed an error, which helped Rochester tie the game at six in the bottom of the fourth. Manchester Varsity Squires took the lead, 8-6, in the top of the fifth thanks to two walks. Martin earned the win for Manchester Varsity Squires. The reliever allowed six hits and three runs (zero earned) over six innings, striking out five and walking one. Parker Casper took the loss for Rochester. The hurler went three innings, surrendering three runs (two earned) on four hits, striking out four and walking four. Landen Bean led things off on the bump for Manchester Varsity Squires. The hurler gave up four hits and four runs (three earned) over one inning, striking out one and walking one. Coleman stepped on the bump first for Rochester. The hurler surrendered three hits and three runs over two innings, striking out three and walking three. Manchester Varsity Squires tallied 12 hits in the game. Martin led Manchester Varsity Squires with three hits in five at bats. Cody Carroll and Mugford each collected multiple hits for Manchester Varsity Squires. Sturtsman led Manchester Varsity Squires with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating nine walks for the game.
