Never Out of It: Squires 🥎 Rally Past Peru

By Adam West | May 5, 2026 9:12 AM

Relentless on the Bases, Resilient Until the End Facing early adversity and a tough, patient Peru lineup, the Lady Squires showed grit, resilience, and total team buy‑in to earn an 11–10 comeback victory Monday night. After falling behind 6–2 early, Manchester stayed composed—responding with energy, smart softball, and relentless pressure on the bases. Manchester jumped on the board early, then flipped the game in the bottom of the sixth with one of its strongest offensive innings of the season. A six‑run rally built on tough at‑bats and timely contact turned the momentum, highlighted by Elin Betten’s bases‑loaded hit that drove in three. Speed and aggressiveness were difference‑makers all night as the Lady Squires stole nine bases. Hadley West led the charge with a perfect 3‑for‑3 performance and two stolen bases, while Hope Dawson added two more. Becca Jimenez delivered two hits to the outfield, Ava Sautter doubled early to spark the offense, and Asia Mardy and Allie Egolf continued to grind through quality at‑bats while playing clean, versatile defense. In the circle, Betten battled through all seven innings, striking out seven and working through traffic as Peru made a late push. The Lady Squires stayed locked in defensively and closed the door to secure a hard‑earned win. A gritty, spirited victory built on hustle, patience, and players stepping up in big moments—exactly the kind of fight that defines Manchester Softball. Up next: Manchester vs. Caston on Tuesday.
