Squires win TRC

It came down to the last event in a nail biter Friday night, but the Squires came away with the TRC title winning over 2nd place Wabash by a mere 3 points. The competition was fierce, but the Squires never gave up picking up points in unexpected places (Dyllin Gwynn 8th with a PR in shot, Jet Thomas 8th in the 3200 also a PR) to give the Squires the push they needed. The team boasted 4 TRC champions including Oliver Fitzpatrick who ran a brilliant 3200 with a 19 second PR, Carson Heath in the 110s with a blistering 14.63 also a PR, and Holden Poston in the 300 m hurdles 39.67 another great PR. Leading over Wabash by 4 and Northwestern by 7 with only 2 events yet to be scored, the Squires had to watch their lead shrink as both teams picked up by pole vault points. It was Squires 98, Wabash 97, and Northwestern 96 going into the 4x4, but the team of Eli Metzger, Poston, Clark Showalter, and Heath rose to the challenge not only taking the championship, but also setting a new meet record with a 3:27.8. Squires win by 3.
