Monday Night 🥎: Squires Strike Early, Stay Solid in 6-3 Win Over Whitko

By Adam West | May 14, 2026 12:49 PM

The Manchester Varsity Squires set the tone early and never looked back, earning a 6-3 win over Whitko on Monday. Manchester wasted no time getting on the board, as Renz delivered an RBI single in the first inning to give the Squires an early advantage. The momentum continued in the third, when Egolf sparked the offense with a triple to center field, and Renz followed with a productive groundout, each bringing in a run to extend the lead. In the circle, Betten delivered a complete-game effort, going seven innings while allowing just three hits and three runs (two earned). Betten also added two strikeouts and worked through key moments to keep Whitko from gaining momentum. Offensively, Manchester showed balance across the lineup. West, Sautter, Renz, Metzger, and Egolf each drove in a run, highlighting a strong team approach at the plate. Egolf led the way with two hits in three at-bats and added pressure on the bases with two stolen bases. Whitko was able to push across three runs, but Manchester’s early lead and consistent execution proved to be the difference. Manchester’s ability to score early, capitalize on opportunities, and play steady defense secured the win and demonstrated a complete team performance from start to finish.
