The Lady Squires showed resilience and determination Thursday night, rallying late to secure a 6-5 victory over Columbia City. Manchester got on the board early, as Renz sparked the offense with an RBI double in the first inning to give the Squires a quick 1-0 lead. Columbia City responded with a big third inning, scoring five runs to take a 5-1 advantage. Trailing but unfazed, the Squires chipped away and stayed within striking distance before delivering a decisive sixth inning. Manchester exploded for five runs on six hits to flip the game back in their favor. Egolf came through with a key two-run double, while Hannah Dawson delivered the go-ahead RBI single to give the Squires a 6-5 lead. In the circle, Niccum battled through a complete-game effort, allowing five runs across seven innings while keeping Manchester in position to rally. At the plate, Manchester totaled 10 hits, with Sautter, Renz, and Egolf each contributing multi-hit performances. Renz and Egolf led the way with two RBIs apiece, and Egolf added pressure on the bases with two stolen bases. Defensively, the Squires also turned two double plays, helping limit Columbia City opportunities. Manchester’s ability to respond to adversity and execute in big moments proved to be the difference, as the Squires closed out a hard-fought win on the road.
