Manchester girls win third consecutive sectional championship with a 5-0 victory over Maconaquah in the championship match Thursday, May 21. Myla Crozier had no trouble at No. 1 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win, followed by No. 2 singles Bethany Penrod giving up one game in a 6-1, 6-0 victory, and Chase Blevins shook off slow start to cruise to a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles. In doubles play, the No. 1 team of Kate Schroll and Lexie Nichols dominated in a 6-0, 6-1 win, and the No. 2 double team of Ruby Martin and Tallulah Gawthrop battled for a 6-4, 6-3 win to secure the sweep. The Squires, 14-3, will travel to Bluffton Tuesday, May 26, for the first round of the Bluffton Sectional where they will face the host Tigers. Manchester lost to Bluffton, 3-2, on May 7 in a regular season match.
