The Squire Track team had an unbelievable night at Thursday's Regionals setting 2 records and sending 3 athletes on to next week's state meet in Indianapolis. All eight guys either set a personal record or placed above their seed. Carson Heath remained undefeated claiming not only the regional championship, but also setting a personal record of 14.32. Eli Metzger placed 4th in the 300 m hurdles but was fast enough to meet the state standard with a PR time of 38.92. Korbin Presl placed 3rd in the high jump with a monster leap, and PR, of 6'8. All three athletes will be participating in the state meet. The excitement did not end there. The 4x1 team of Metzger, Johnny Miller, Holden Poston, and Heath were seeded 11th, but exploded winning their heat and placing 4th overall breaking a 49 year old record with a time of 42.68. They missed going to state by .06 seconds. The 4x4 team of Metzger, Poston, Clark Showalter, and Heath ran a PR time of 3:25.19 also narrowly missing a trip to state. Poston placed 5th in the 300 m hurdles missing a trip to state by .05 seconds running a 39.15, another PR. Oliver Fitzpatrick was seeded 14th, but placed 10th with a PR time of 4:34.96 and Caden Young was seeded 15th, but ended up 13th with a toss of 132'11. Simply amazing, a perfect cap to an awesome season. Thanks for the memories! Go, Squires!
