The Manchester varsity volleyball team traveled to Bunker Hill to take on the Maconaquah Lady Braves on Thursday night. The Squires played a solid all around contest to earn the 3-0 sweep with scores of 25-11, 25-16, 25-10. Izzy Renz led the team in kills with 10 on the night, with Ava Felgar following close behind with 9. Ella Peden (6 kills), Mya Metzger (5 kills), and Lacy Trump (5 kills) also had good nights hitting the ball. Ella Peden was strong defensively at the net totaling 7 blocks on the night, including 5 in the first set. In the back row, Hadley West led the team with 20 digs, followed by Myla Crozier with 13, Izzy Renz with 11, and Marysa Stroud with 8. Along with leading the team in digs, Hadley West had an amazing night serving the ball. She finished the evening with 30 service points and 10 aces in her 36 total serves. This year, Hadley has set new school records for both career service points and career aces. Thursday's match against Maconaquah sure showed how dangerous that she can be from the service line as she mixed in serves with varied locations and different tempos to keep the Lady Braves guessing. Sophie Cumberland continued to distribute the ball well totaling 31 assists on the night. The Squires are back in action next week taking on county opponents Northfield on Tuesday and Southwood on Thursday.
