Squires Unified Flag Football Varsity vs New Haven (20 - 44) Loss Squires Unified Flag Football faced the Carroll Chargers with a tough loss of 6-18 in our first game of the night. Cody Lengel had great passes throughout the game. Jacob Emerick had great snaps throughout the game. Lucas Hernandez ran for a play but was stopped. Zaine Hershberger hustled and sacked the quarterback. Peyton Tester scored the Squires touchdown! Cody ran for 15 yard gain and blocked the ball when on defense. Jacob and Lucas provided extra pressure on defense and moved to pull flags well. Zaine was sacked by #10 for the Chargers then had amazing defense and blocking of passes. Peyton had awesome spin moves to gain several yards and smacked down the ball to end the play for the Chargers. Peyton and Zaine provided great defense with pulling flags and providing extra pressure throughout the game. The Squires also ran an awesome reverse play to confuse the Chargers. Unfortunately the Squires couldn’t finish out the plays to make touchdowns, but all improved their plays this game. Squires Unified Flag Football Varsity vs Carroll (6 - 18) Loss The Squires matched up against New Haven for the second game of the night. It was agreed between the teams to play 4 on 4 this game as both teams only had 5 total players and were worn out from the first games. Both teams had great competition throughout the game. Cody Lengel showed great rushing on defense and had a 20 yard run. Jacob Emerick had fantastic defense and scored a touchdown. Lucas Hernandez ran the field and showed off his moves as well as running 5 yards with the ball. Zaine Hershberger was hustling throughout the game and scored 2 touchdowns. Peyton Tester scored a touchdown and provided excellent defense. Zaine and Peyton collided during a reverse play causing a timeout on the field to get Peyton’s bleeding nose cared for. Peyton sat out to care for his nose but went in one final time to be center for a play to help the team advance. Great sportsmanship was displayed by both teams as all the players were exhausted. The final score was Manchester 20- New Haven 44. Great team effort was shown by all players this evening! The Squires will be back at it on Wednesday, September 17 back at Homestead for an evening of games between Manchester, Homestead, East Noble, and Twin Lakes.
